Gear Measuring Machines
DESCRIPTION OF THE GMM TECHNIQUE
The equipment described consists of a multipurpose metrological system that is able to recognise and carry out frequently used software measuring procedures in the industrial sector, especially in relation to recurring measurements in the metrological certification of solids of revolution such as for testing gear profiles.
The acronym adopted for this new type of instrument is GMM (Gear Measuring Machine.)
This type of machine has been created as a consequence to the pressing demands of the market for a solution to problems related to the measurement of solids of revolution that present problems of accuracy and measuring methods that are not easily resolvable with normal CMMs.
GEAR MEASURING MACHINE GMM
Description and composition
The software programs currently available for measuring gears entail the complete measuring cycle, subject to standards ISO - DIN - AGMA, of straight and helical gears, worm screws with one or more thread starts, shaving blades, hobs, cam shafts and Gleason/hypoid gears.
The range of diameters covered reaches a maximum of 400 mm for model GMM 40, 700 mm. for model GMM 70 and 1100 mm for model GMM 110.
The useful height between the tailstocks may reach 1200 mm based on specific requests for the three models.
The structure consists of three straight coordinated axes, born pneumostatically on granite guides with total elimination of friction and wear.
Two tailstocks are installed, of which one built onto axis W and the other opposed and adjustable in height, fitted on a special granite column situated on the opposite side to that of the load-bearing structure of the three main axes.
The second tailstock is adjusted in height by means of a motorised system.
This coordinated system with four axes is pre-arranged to fit an analogue measuring head, which via a special feeler that physically touches the surface of the part being measured, assesses the theoretic trend, which is done by means of appropriate interpolation generated by the control system according to the mathematic formula implemented in the Software product.
The structure stands on the floor on self-levelling (GMM 70 -110) pneumatic supports (Barry Mount).
